Judi did the illustration for our logo, after which she painted this wonderful depiction of the sled dog and trail.

Judi was a longtime resident of Alaska. She and her husband and three sons fished commercially out of Halibut Cove on the Kenai Peninsula. After their family were grown, they relocated in Halfway, Oregon, a small ranching community in Eastern Oregon.

Through the years, she participated in numerous regional and national juried exhibits, in Alaska and the “Lower 48" and also taught classes in watercolor, oil and drawing. Her work is in the collection of the Alaska Contemporary Art Bank and the Pratt Museum in Homer and was a featured artist in the Alaska Journal and listed in American Artists of Renown.

With no formal education, she continued to expand her talent with an Extension course from the University of California at Berkeley on Two Dimensional Design and also studying with artist/teachers in the San Francisco area. She attended workshops conducted by nationally known artists whenever possible.

Her paintings evolve from visual experiences witnessed in nature. Her goal is to capture a particular mood or light effect. She has learned over the years to let a painting evolve as it progresses, although, when painting a commissioned work, the goal is to capture the essence of that particular subject, whether it be a landscape, horse, dog, etc..

Judi is currently represented by the Indigo Gallery in Joseph, Oregon.
