Welcome to the 2010 Eagle Cap Extreme kick-off!!

We would like to begin the 2010 Race Kick-Off with our many Thanks to our Sponsors, Volunteers, Members, and other organizations we partnered with in 2009. Our 2010 Race will continue to provide a quality, family-oriented, musher challenging winter community event for all ages.

Our 2010 Race event dates are as follows. Please check back at our web site, www.eaglecapextreme.com for more details as the Race nears..

• Race Central opens for public use Tues, 12 Jan
• Vet Checks on Joseph and Enterprise Wed, 13 Jan
• Musher dinner, Wed, 13 Jan
• START Thurs, 14 Jan
• 100 mile FINISH, Fri, 15 Jan
• 200 mile FINISH, Sat, 16 Jan
• Musher banquet, Sat, 16 Jan

The START, FINISH locations and additional activities are still under study so watch for details.

With full cooperation from the Wallow-Whitman National Forest staff, we will again utilize their trails across the challenging winter terrain for both our 100 and 200 mile sled dog races.

Calling all Volunteers…Calling all Volunteers!!

First order of business is to direct your attention to the tab marked Volunteers on our home page. Due to our growth and expanded services, we are in need of VOLUNTEERS. Please review our web site list of current Volunteer opportunities along with a short job description of each. Some opportunities, like virtual office staff, can easily be accomplished from the comfort of your home. Others will require travelling to Northeast Oregon to support the race. See what fits into your available volunteer time and talents then drop me an email with questions to president@eaglecapextreme.com.

If you have no questions then email volunteers@eaglecapextreme.com for a Volunteer application. Easy as that!

In the next several months we will be reviewing our Race Rules, setting the purse and performing trail maintenance in conjunction with the Gambler’s Snowmobile Club. To help with the heat and put us back into the cold frame of mind, our Webmaster folks have provided the OPB widget of the filming of the 2009 ECX on our home page. The video shows the Eagle Cap Extreme from the mushers view with actual trail footage with some from the air. Interviews along with beautiful scenery as only the Wallow’s can provide. Go on…you know you want to…

I will close for now so we can continue with plans of our August 2010 Membership meeting being reviewed. Check the web site for date/time/location of our August membership meeting. We look forward to your participation.

With the 2010 Race being about 5 months away, individuals and groups are working on details. We invite you to join us in Northeastern Oregon in Jan 2010 for the Race. For those that will be unable to attend, we will have up to date race standings available on the web along with live reports from the local radio station.

Our commitment is to continuous event improvement, active support of local businesses & organization and provides a family-friendly event.
