Clyde Rymer

Clyde and Family recently moved from their home of 16 years in Wasilla, Alaska to Oregon. For all of those years, Clyde was an Iditarod Communications Volunteer and at one time or another, worked in Communications at each of the Checkpoints. As a Communications Engineer & Project Manager, he designed/implemented the Iditarod Communications strategy for many of those years. By combining a network of Land-Line Telephony, Satellite Phone and Pagers, Amateur Radio, Webcams and Wireless Internet allowed the position/status of each musher to be known within 5 minutes of arriving/departing any checkpoint. He has volunteered in the Yukon Quest and Iron Dog events.

Clyde's Alaskan business, allowed him the unique opportunity to travel and visit most Alaskan communities including The Aleutians Chain, Barrow, Kodiak, Chicken, McGrath and Lonely Alaska. Clyde and Family enjoy the outdoor recreational opportunities of hiking, camping, kayaking, mountain climbing and flying both in Alaska and Oregon. Since moving to Oregon, Clyde has become involved in the ECSDR reorganization and providing reliable communication strategies for now and the future.
