The Eagle Cap Extreme is a 100 mile, eight dog team race as well as a 200 mile, twelve dog team race which is an official qualifier for both the Iditarod and the Yukon Quest races.
We provide a premier sporting event for mushers and their teams through some of the most scenic and rugged country in the U.S. The race runs through the 'Hells Canyon National Recreation Area' and Wallowa-Whitman National Forest adjacent to the Eagle Cap Wilderness.
Both races start (run concurrently) at Wallowa State Park (snow load permitting), just south of the town of Joseph, OR. The 100 mile race runs to the Ollokot checkpoint (50 mile mark) on the Imnaha River and returns. The 200 mile race continues on to the Halfway checkpoint (100 mile mark) located near Halfway, Oregon and returns.
Throughout all the activities the Eagle Cap Extreme sponsors, the main concerns are safety for the mushers, the dogs, the race staff, and the spectators as well as maintaining an organization of integrity.
Currently the Eagle Cap Extreme has fifty four paid corporation members, over one hundred volunteers, and approximately seventy sponsors.
Eagle Cap Extreme operates as a 501 (c) (3) Non-Profit Corporation and as such all donations and contributions are fully tax deductible.
