With 16 years of Sled Dog race experience with the Iditarod, Yukon Quest and other Far North sledding events, Clyde brings a mixture of engineering, project management and non-profit organizational expertise to the Eagle Cap Extreme. Working as a consultant, he is able to allocate his time and energy as best suited for the organization’s needs.
Oregon has a rich history of the sport of Mushing from the sand dunes of the coast to the mountains. Both Stage and Distance racing are alive and well in Oregon. Working as a consultant

Dr. Randy Greenshields - Vice President

Dr. Randy Greenshields considers himself fortunate to call Wallowa County, Oregon his home for the past 14 years. He is co-owner of the Double Arrow Veterinary Clinic in Enterprise and enjoys the variety that a small-town, mixed-animal practice provides. Dr. Greenshields and his wife, Jeni, cannot think of a better place to raise their four children: Brooke (14), Damon (12), Brett (9), and Landon (6). They have a few acres out of town where they enjoy their 3 dogs, a cat, 4 horses, several cows, chickens, and an occasional orphaned bison. Dr. Greenshields also enjoys camping with his family as well as hiking and bowhunting in the high mountains of the Eagle Cap Wilderness area. Dr. Greenshields is a 1994 graduate of Washington State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine. Prior to that, he received his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Puget Sound in Tacoma, WA where he met his future wife, Jeni, on his first day of school. This is Dr. Greenshields’ fifth year working the Eagle Cap, being a trail veterinarian since its beginning. He also serves on the race’s Board of Directors and is the Eagle Cap Extreme’s vice-president this year. |
Doug Buska - Treasurer |
Doug and wife Patti moved to Joseph 4 years ago from Richland, WA. They own and operate Wallowa Lake Resort a vacation rental management company (previously Collet's Cabins). Before moving to Wallowa County Doug owned and operated a computer consulting company, was a manager for a fortune 500 company and taught at a junior college. He is currently president of the Wallowa Lake Tourism Group and a Joseph Volunteer Fire Fighter. Doug has been a volunteer and sponsor for the race since its inception. His work for the race includes being the coordinator for the Ollokot check point, and providing low cost (or no cost) lodging to mushers and volunteers. |
Terry Hinesly - Director ![]() |
Terry became an Oregon resident at age 5 - a California transplant. After graduating from Southern Oregon College, a trip to Alaska ended with a Siberian Husky pup joining the family. During his 26 years running sled dogs, he ran some sprint races, mid-distance races, distance races and many Dune Mushersí Mail Runs. But his biggest feat was finishing the Iditarod in 1990. During the years he was involved with mushing, he also made most of the equipment he and Cari used in the sport. He has enjoyed working races since retiring from the sport. His past experience includes being a judge in the Iditarod for 6 years, the John Beargrease in Minnesota and presently working the Eagle Cap Extreme Dog Race in Joseph, Oregon and the Seney 300 in Michigan. He is also teaching mushing to orphans in Russia, while helping the Russians organize the first stage race in the northwestern part of their country. |
Shelley Curtiss - Director

Shelley has been a resident of Wallowa County 22 years. She has been a professional sculptor since 1990. She served as member of the Joseph City Counsel for 10 years and as mayor of Joseph for 4 years. As mayor she spearheaded the Joseph Main Street Beautification Project. She has served in several leadership positions while living in Wallowa County. This includes president of the Wallowa Valley Arts council, Vice President of the Eastern Oregon Regional Arts Council, former chairman of the Wallowa Valley Arts Festival and as a board member of ECX. |
Lynnie Appleton - Director

Lynnie moved to Enterprise, OR from Pullman, WA in 1999. Having lived in Halfway, OR for 9 years, the move back to Eastern Oregon and Enterprise felt like she had returned home. Lynnie is a Veterinary Technician at the Double Arrow Veterinary Clinic in Enterprise. She has been a volunteer at the pre-race vet checks since the race's inception and a volunteer at the Ollokot checkpoint for the past two
years. |
Michael Fleming

Michael Fleming moved to Joseph with his wife in 2007 (Dr. C. Rene' Fleming, trail vet for the ECX). Michael has experience working with KTNA Public Radio in Talkeetna, Alaska. He was instrumental in working to setup the KTNA Public Radio as a successful non-profit organization. He served as both a director and officer for the KTNA Public Radio organization. |
